Walnut Sheet Cake – Ořechová buchta

Tips:
- I use glass baking dish and for me is enough to just butter up the surface. If you have different baking dish you might also need to sprinkle flour on top of the buttered dish. You can use Wondra flour or all purpose flour using a small strainer to spread the flour easily.

Prep: 30 minutes
Bake: at 350°F (180°C) 30 minutes
Total: 1 hour plus cooling time and putting the frosting on
Ingredients:
1 cup (140g) all purpose flour
1 cup (100g) walnuts
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
1 cup (240ml) milk
1/2 cup (120ml) oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Softened unsalted butter for the baking tray
Chocolate frosting
Directions:
- Grind 1 cup walnuts. Take 3 tablespoons of ground walnuts and add to a small bowl. (We will add it on top of the frosting afterwards.)
- Butter up a baking dish with softened unsalted butter and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Into a mixing bowl add 1 cup all purpose flour, ground walnuts, 2 teaspoons baking powder and 3/4 cup granulated sugar. Mix it all together.
- Add 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup oil, 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Using a paddle attachment start mixing in stand mixer on low. Add the speed and mix everything together.
- Using a spatula mix the batter making sure there are no dry parts on the bottom of the mixing bowl. (The batter is very runny.)
- Transfer the batter into prepared buttered baking dish and put the dish into preheated oven.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until wooden skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool off completely. (It takes about 30 minutes.)
- Meanwhile you can make a Chocolate frosting.
- Pour frosting and spread evenly over cooled cake.
- Sprinkle on the top of frosting the 3 tablespoons of ground walnuts we set aside earlier.
- Keep the cake stored in the refrigerator to keep the frosting solid and not too runny.
